As I read the Ministry of Business, I was impressed by how focused the author is on having a connection to God and following prompting in all that we do. This is something that I have been taught over the years in church, but I had never thought of it in regards to business. It makes me have to consider my wife's suggestion for a potential business start up much more closely.
I look forward to being able to explore how much I want to be in business for myself or if I should simply work for a company doing what I want.
The videos and readings this week focused being willing to experiment and take chances. The more willing we are to fail, the more likely we will find a successful way of doing something that works better than before.
I think Randy Pausch was able to achieve so many of his childhood dreams because he had a strong desire to do them. He did not allow himself to become discouraged. He had family that was supportive of his creativity.
Dreaming is incredibly important. Dreams will help to give us the motivation that we need to be successful. If we don't have a dream, we won't have nearly as many goals. If we don't have goals, how do we know if we accomplished what we wanted in this life?
As a child I was always very good with numbers. From second grade through high school I wanted to become an accountant. The idea of working with numbers and solving problems for a living was invigorating. I ran into some problems with my schooling my first time around and gave up the dream at that time. I hope that I can rekindle that dream and become an accountant this time around.
