Introduction to Joe

Hello, my name is Joe Duffield and I am a student at BYU-Idaho in the business management program.  I am 40 years old and have gone back to school because my chosen career decided that it did not choose me.  The store that I had been running for years closed down with the slow down in the economy.  This lead to a job search and the realization that a degree will help a lot with that pursuit.

Having said that I invite you to join me on my new adventure for the next 14 weeks and possibly much longer.  I am both excited and nervous about this new opportunity in my life.

Well, this is my first week in my B183 class on "Introduction to Entrepreneurship."  I must admit that I did not read the course description very well when I signed up.  I simply noted that I needed to take this class to fulfill my degree requirements.

I came into this class thinking that we would be doing a practice business or something along those lines.  I never expected that the class would be focusing on me and helping me to become and entrepreneur.  I realize that I was being short sighted.

This week I enjoyed the readings about how humans have always been entrepreneurs.  We all work to create something new and better for ourselves.  All of us take risks in our lives.  The main difference between an entrepreneur and someone else is the vision and determination that goes into the effort.

I am looking forward to crystallizing a vision for myself that will help me chose my big dream.
